    _Ceres_ is the first of three planned sequels to my Prometheus 
Award-winning novel _Pallas_, published a dozen years ago by Tor Books. 
It continues the epic story of the Ngu family and their pioneering 
adventures in the Asteroid Belt. 

    _Ceres_ offers the reader a view of the Solar System as it could be 
in the early 22nd Century, along with several gunfights, a couple of 
love stories, plenty of sex, violence, politics, world-building, a 
smidgeon of space-opera, and the nastiest environmentalist groups (and 
the nastiest villains) you're ever likely to see. There's even a 
spaceliner hijacking, and a glimpse of baseball on Mars.
